Caa Definition: CAA Full Form: Citizen Amendment Act
Caa Description:
CAA means Citizen Amendment Act.
It was a bill brought by the Government of India, which was passed by the Indian Parliament and now it has become an act.
Under this law, all Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Parsis, Jains who have fled from other countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan till 2014 will be given citizenship of India.
By running, it means that people of these religions were tortured in these 3 countries, due to which they fled from this country to India.
So the Government of India led by Narendra Modi brought a bill (CAB) in Parliament in December 2019 that all those who have come to India before 2014 should be given citizenship.
The bill that the Government of India brought is called Citizen Amendment Bill and when this bill was passed, then the Act became what we now call Citizen Amendment Act.
Both houses of India, Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha passed this bill.
The government’s reasoning behind this bill was that India is the only country in the world where people removed from these 3 countries can take refuge.
Mixed views are coming out about this law in India, as if many people are supporting this law, they are of the opinion that the persecuted Hindus of another country and other minorities should get a place in India.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party had a majority in both the houses of the Indian Parliament, so the bill was easily passed in both the houses but many people are opposing this bill on the street.
Those who are opposing this bill argue that this bill or act is against the Indian Constitution.
He says that according to the Indian Constitution, no one can be discriminated against on the basis of caste, religion or sex.
And religion has been made the basis for granting citizenship in this bill, so many people believe it against the Indian Constitution and are agitating against it.
Many people complain about why Muslims were excluded from this bill.
A lot of people feel that if the government has planned
