What is Directorate of Town and Country Planning mean?

The Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), is nodal planning agency for Some Urban agglomerations and its Suburbs of Indian state of TamilNadu. Regionally it is called as Local Planning Authority (LPA) for the cities like Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli etc.,.. It was set up for the purposes of planning, co-ordination, supervising, promoting and securing the planned development of the Urban areas of Tamil Nadu. It coordinates the development activities of the municipal corporations, municipalities and other local authorities.
