What is Harrison Middle School mean?
The Baldwin-Whitehall School District is a large, suburban, public school district which serves the boroughs of Baldwin and Whitehall and Baldwin Township in Pennsylvania. Baldwin-Whitehall School District encompasses approximately 10 square miles (26 km2). According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 36,687 people. By 2010, the district's population declined to 35,731 people. Per school district officials, in school year 2007–08 the Baldwin-Whitehall School District provided basic educational services to 4,217 pupils. In 2009, Baldwin-Whitehall School District residents' per capita income was $21,872 a year, while the median family income was $53,196. In the Commonwealth, the median family income was $49,501 and the United States median family income was $49,445, in 2010.
Baldwin-Whitehall School District employed 346 teachers, 67 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 13 administrators in 2008. Baldwin-Whitehall School District received more than $16.5 million in state funding in school year 2007–08.
The high school has a limited number of counselors and had adopted a new by grade system in the 2021-2022 school year. This means that each counselor has between 500-700 students (this is among the highest in the country) and each counselor is supposed to prepare college letters and applications for 200 seniors. This decision along with the lack of appropriate hiring by school administrators will cause students to miss deadlines, not apply to colleges and face dire consequences as they try to manage their physical and mental health during a pandemic. Unfortunately, constant turnover of principals and superintendents creates problems for the students since administrators don’t stick around long enough to understand the complexities and challenges faced by the faculty and students. Parents are incredibly frustrated as are students.
Baldwin-Whitehall School District operates Baldwin High School, J.E. Harrison Middle School (6th–8th), McAnnulty Elementary School (K-1st), W.R. Paynter Elementary School (K-5th) and Whitehall Elementary School (2nd–5th).
