What is Student Senate for California Community Colleges mean?
Student Senate for the California Community Colleges (SSCCC) was a task force established in 1988 by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges. SSCCC was originally known as the "Council of Student Body Governments" and then later as the "Student Senate".
SSCCC operated under "Standing Rules" prescribed by the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges. SSCCC promoted access for current and future students to California public higher education in accordance with the California Master Plan for Higher Education.
In 2020 the Board of Governors removed references to SSCCC from Section 50002 of the California Code of Regulations and from Section 333 of the Procedures and Standing Orders of the Board of Governors. SSCCC's functions have been assumed by a California nonprofit public benefit corporation named "Student Senate for California Community Colleges" (the incorporated SSCCC).
