What is Wright Flyer mean?
The Wright Flyer made the first sustained flight by a manned heavier-than-air powered and controlled aircraft—an airplane. Invented by the Wright brothers, it was flown by them four times on December 17, 1903, near Kill Devil Hills, about 4 miles (6 kilometers) south of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Today, the airplane is exhibited in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. Its flights marked the beginning of the "pioneer era" of aviation. (The aircraft is also sometimes referred to as the "Kitty Hawk", "Flyer I" or "1903 Flyer".)
