The Air Force Interoperability Council or AFIC is an organisation tasked with enhancing coalition military aviation amongst the "Five Eyes" countries, which consist of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and United States. AFIC consists of representatives from the Royal Air Force (RAF), Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF), United States Air Force (USAF) and the United States Navy (USN). The organisation has a permanent management committee based in Washington DC.
In particular, AFIC focuses on improved war-fighting capabilities, by maximising interoperability. AFIC and its precursor, the Air Standardization Coordination Committee (ASCC), have worked to further each country's capabilities for combined operations, as well as providing mutual day-to-day compatibility in some areas, such as the capability for particular aircraft types to be cross-serviced. the management committee, with the additional cooperation of experts from members countries' defence departments, oversees the execution of AFIC’s official "Vision", "Mission" and "Task". AFIC's primary publication outputs are Air Standards, Advisory Publications and Information Publications, which seek to increase operational effectiveness through by describing common technical specifications, interoperability objectives and/or tactics, techniques, procedures (TTPs).
