Answer: What is International Chess Committee of the Deaf mean?

The International Chess Committee of the Deaf or ICCD is the world Chess federation for the deaf.

The ICCD was founded as ICSC (International Committee of Silent Chess) on August 14, 1949 in Copenhagen. The ICSC received recognition from FIDE on 25 April 1955 and the FIDE appealed to its member countries to support the activities and organization of the ISCS events. On October 1, 2012, on the occasion of the 31st ICSC Congress, the name was changed to ICCD.

The ICCD consists of 36 member countries. The ICCD is entitled to participate in the Chess Olympiads in the same way as IBCA (International Braille Chess Association) and IPCA (International Physically Disabled Chess Association). The ICSC first participated in the Olympiad in 2002 by sending a world selection of deaf players. The guiding motto of the association affixed to the association's logo is Ad augusta per angusta.
