The Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar (Hindi: इंदिरा गांधी पर्यावरण पुरस्कार) is an award, given for contribution in the field of environmental protection, was started by the Government of India in the year 1987. Five lakh rupees and citation are provided in it. The selection of any organization or personality for the award is done by a committee headed by the Vice President. In 2008, the award was given to Isha Foundation of Tamil Nadu. This organization has a Guinness world record for planting more than eight lakh saplings in a single day.
