George Boeree of Shippensburg University, Pennsylvania, and further developed by many of its users. Its vocabulary is based on the Romance languages French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Catalan.

Lingua Franca Nova has phonemic spelling based on 22 letters, and can be written by using either the Latin or Cyrillic scripts.
