The National Association for the Advancement of White People (NAAWP) refers to the organization established in 1979 by former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke. It is unrelated to the identically named organization which existed from 1953 to 1955. Although originating in different circumstances and having no recorded affiliation with each other, both iterations of the NAAWP share similar values, regarding the positioning of white people in society and the degrading of white supremacy due to movements such as desegregation and the Civil Rights Movement. The name, in both cases, is an inversion of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Although Duke’s current NAAWP does not consider itself to be a hate group or racist, the Southern Poverty Law Center has labelled it to be both a white supremacist organization and a hate group.
