Olanchito is a town with a population of 45,270 (2020 calculation) and a municipality in the Honduran department of Yoro. The municipality was founded in 1530 and today comprises 70 villages, over 300 hamlets, and around 100,000 inhabitants. It is located 107 miles (172 km) North-East of Tegucigalpa, the country's capital. Olanchito is in the Central Time Zone, with a UTC offset of -6 hours. The city is the birthplace of many exponents of Honduran literature, such as Ramón Amaya Amador. Olanchito has his manuscripts, his collection of books, the table at which he wrote, and even his ashes. Known locally as the Civic City, Olanchito's main industry is based around agriculture.
