Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) is an x86 virtualization product produced by Red Hat,based on the KVM hypervisor. Red Hat Virtualization uses the SPICE protocol and VDSM (Virtual Desktop Server Manager) with a RHEL-based centralized management server. It can acquire user and group information from an Active Directory or FreeIPA domain.Some of the technologies of Red Hat Virtualization came from Red Hat's acquisition of Qumranet. Other parts derive from oVirt.Before 2016, up to version 3.x product was named Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV).
RHV supports scheduling policies that define the logic by which virtual machines are distributed among hosts.
RHV supports up to 400 hosts in a single cluster and no limit for the maximum number of virtual machines. It also support hot plugging virtual CPUs also allows to run unlimited guest machine in comparison with RHEL which is limited to 4 guest machines.
