The Traditional Youth Marching Bands Association (TYMBA) is an organization related to marching bands in the United Kingdom.
TYMBA was formed in 1983 by a few like-minded friends who felt there was a need for an organisation to cater specifically for youth bands, which project a traditional British image and adopt a British military style of drill. The organisation set up a number of contests across the UK to allow traditional style youth bands to compete. The first National TYMBA band contest was held in Cannock, Staffordshire in 1991 with bands travelling from across the country to take part. The Hornchurch Drum and Trumpet Corps took 1st place in the National Class and therefore became the first TYMBA National Champions. Although there remains a small competition circuit within TYMBA and bands still have opportunities to compete, there is now a greater focus and emphasis on networking, training and support for all bands within the membership, through a series of online and face to face events, in-house led and with support from the military.
