ADIDAS is a multinational company that designs and manufactures premium quality sports shoes, sports apparel and other sports equipment and accessories.
Adidas is also known as Adidas AG is a German multinational company. The headquarters of Adidas is in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Adidas is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe and it is the second biggest in the world after Nike.
Started by Adolf Dassler Adidas was joined by his brother Rudolf in 1924 under the name Gebruder Dassler.
He assisted in the development of spiked running shoes known as spikes for many athletic events. Dassler transitioned from a previous model of heavy metal spikes to unitizing canvas and rubber to enhance the quality of spiked athletic footwear.
After this Dassler persuaded US sprinter Jesse Owens to use his handmade spikes at the 1936 summer Olympics.
In 1949 Adolf created Adidas and his brother Rudolf formed Puma which later became the business rival of Adidas.
Adidas’s identity mark is three stripes that have been used on the company’s clothing and shoe designs as a marketing aid.
This branding that Adidas bought in 1952 from Finnish Sports Company Karthu Sports for the equivalent of 1600 euros and two bottles of whiskey later became successful that Dassler presented Adidas as The three stripes company.
Adidas group owns other companies also such as Reebok, Rockport and Taylor Made etc.
Adolf Dassler created his first shoe in 1920 when he was just 20 years old.
Adolf made special shoes in his workshop in 1928 for the athletes who participated in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam.
Adolf made 30 various shoes for eleven different sports with a workforce of around 100 employees in the mid-1930s.
Adolf had to take a fresh start after Second World War.
That is why in 1947 Adolf started with 47 workers and made their first post-war sports shoes by using canvas and rubber
