The full form of MD in the field of healthcare is Doctor of Medicine. MD is originally derived from the Latin word “Medicinae Doctor”, meaning “teacher of medicine”. It is a 3 years post graduate degree in the field of medicine after completing MBBS. MD is awarded after three years of training in subjects having a non-surgical nature. Since MD is a post graduation degree, candidates must possess MBBS degree to apply for this course.
EligibilityAs a minimum criterion of eligibility, aspiring candidates need to have completed MBBS/BAMS with a minimum aggregate score of 50%, with 1-year compulsory internship. Also, a minimum aggregate score of 60% at the level of graduation. Often, candidates are required to qualify an institute, State or national-level entrance test for admission to the course.
